American Transportation Research Institute
Dan is the Vice President of Research for the American Transportation Research Institute. ATRI -- an award-winning 501(c)3 not-for-profit research arm of the trucking industry -- conducts objective research, analysis and evaluation on a range of freight transportation issues relating to freight economics, safety, technology and security.
Dan has overall responsibility for directing ATRI’s portfolio of research initiatives, and has served as project manager on transportation research sponsored by multiple local, state and federal agencies. He also has served on various transportation research committees for organizations such as the National Research Council, TRB, General Accounting Office and Council on Competitiveness, and previously represented freight interests as a Board member of the Mpls - St. Paul MPO. Dan is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Transportation Law.
Prior to joining ATRI, Dan worked for the Regional Transit Board (Minneapolis/St. Paul) as Project Administrator. He also spent several years working in economic development for a Chicago-based Fortune 50 business consortium. Mr. Murray received his BA from Gustavus Adolphus College, and his MS degree from Northwestern University.
