About the Speaker

Recently appointed as the Cargo head for the Americas providing leadership for Sales and Service. Including implementation of the global commercial expansion plan and product offerings within the region to better serve customers seeking high quality 747 freighter and 777 belly freight service.  Formulate and implement marketing strategies in-line with overall corporate objectives, maximize market share, set regional sales targets, distribution channels, market segment, and yield improvement.  Full aspects of market sizing, segmentation, competitor analysis, market research, product development, product positioning, pricing and yield management, promotional campaigns and communication strategy.  Grow relationships with major customers, forwarders, brokers, integrators, suppliers and other airlines while providing sales team strategy to galvanize customer relationships and assure superior customer service to optimize cargo flows to Saudi Arabia, Africa and beyond. 

Having most recently served as Director, Global Sales for Continental Airlines, with emphasis on leadership of the team serving the Strategic and Global Partnership Accounts.  Making significant contributions to Continental Airlines’ emergence from bankruptcy and their subsequent growth to industry prominence, return to profitability, and acclaim, Mr. Basoco has held various leadership posts at Continental over more than 20 years of service with key contribution to the design and implementation of the valuable network franchise jewel throughout Latin America.

He also served as Director, Cargo Sales Americas and National Accounts; Director Cargo Sales and Service for Latin America & Caribbean.  His Airport Services division experience includes; Regional Director of Airport Operations, for the Canada, Caribbean, Central America and the South America regions respectively.

 

Additionally, Mr. Basoco has held leadership positions in the passenger sales division including Regional Manager of Strategic Planning and Programs for Latin America and Caribbean and Marketing Coordinator.  He began his career at Continental in the purchasing department, negotiating system hotel programs for over-nighting crews and corporate travelers world-wide.

 

His educational background includes an MBA in International Business from The University of St. Thomas with Undergraduate studies at The University of Houston, Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management and Marketing at The University of Texas at Austin. He was born in El Paso Texas and is fluent in Spanish.  A former golf professional, he maintains a 10 handicap.  He and his wife, Kathleen, and two teenage children reside in Houston Texas.
