TCH welcomes Walter Sánchez, General Manager Global Supply Chain at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company

 as our guest speaker.


                


Walter Sanchez is General Manager, Global Supply Chain, reporting into the Polymers & Specialties Organization.  He has held this position since September 2020.  He is responsible for overseeing the operations and commercial strategy of the global supply chain which includes rail services, trucking, ocean, warehouse & packaging, customer service, freight forwarding, marine services, performance metrics and global trade compliance for  Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.

Previously Sanchez served as Global  Motor Carrier & Bulk Services manager, in the Supply Chain group for CPChem from 2018 to 2020.  He was responsible for all trucking, ocean, whse & pkg activities in the US and for all export shipments.

From 2013 to 2018 Sanchez was in charge of the Export Sales & Distribution activities for CPChem’s polyethylene business.  Prior to that, he spent more than 13 years in a number of operations management roles across the Rail Services organization. Sanchez participated and led teams involved in the design and construction of the company’s first three SIT yards inside of manufacturing facilities among several other roles in rail operations and maintenance projects.  While serving as Rail Operations Manager, he was appointed to the USCG Petrochemicals Project team as the Supply Chain workstream lead during the design of the USGC Petrochemicals Project’s Old Ocean plant and its rail infrastructure which included procurement of 3,000 railcars, construction of 44 miles of track, loading/unloading spots, 1500 car spot SIT yard and maintenance/wash rack facilities.

Sanchez began his career in the Transportation & Supply Chain industry with Highway Transport in 1994 followed by working at A&R Logistics (Quantix) before joining CPChem in 2000.  He held several terminal and warehouse positions in operational and sales roles covering both US domestic and LATAM businesses.   He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
